Explore the canals and waterways of Belgium

Belgium Boat Holidays

Our boat base in Nieuwpoort is ideally placed to take advantage of Western Belgium. The coast stretches away in fine sandy beaches backed by dunes. Just inland of the delightful coastline, cruise the peaceful countryside and historic towns connected by the Flemish waterways and enjoy the poetic charm of this warm-hearted country.

Moor up at Bruges, the Venice of the North.

Cruise the romantic canals, walk the cobbled streets of gabled houses and tiny lace and chocolate shops, and explore this magnificent medieval town.

Bruges in Belgium

Ypres with its historical connotations is another town that must be visited. See Veurne's Grand-Place, its Town Hall, covered markets and belfry and tour Ghent, Belgium's ancient Flemish capital.

Belgium is rightly famous for its handmade chocolates and an astonishing range of beers from the dark, strong and pure Trappist abbey breweries. Wherever you go there is an excellent range of superb food shops –pâtisseries, charcuteries, poissonneries and bakeries.

This is not the traditional boating holiday in a truly rural setting on a spectacular waterway, but ideal for those who love being on a boat and also want to visit some remarkable places.

Please note: In April and October all locks and bridges are closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

You can also visit Belgium from our Penichette base in the Ardennes region of France.
